New Year’s Resolutions

By |January 1st, 2016|

Happy new year to you all! Now let’s get down to business.

At this time of year it’s all too common for us to evaluate our year just been, identify the weaknesses, and make resolutions as to what we’re going to change. I am no exception to this, though for 2016 I have set myself but […]

This Ralph Wiggum cake is amazing

By |November 5th, 2014|

I have always thought that cake decorating was cool, especially when the decorator gets really creative about it. This example which I came across online yesterday is one of the best I’ve seen yet. The first image is not a drawing, it’s how they have painted the fondant to make it look. Check it […]

That’s one way to decorate a car!

By |October 15th, 2014|

So in my wandering on the internet today I came across this series of images.

A car enthusiast decided he wanted to let his artist wife loose on their Skyline car to give it a custom paint-job that would stand out. They certainly achieved that!

My House My Usability

By |October 5th, 2014|

Let me start by saying that I love my house. It’s big, roomy, warm and has an amazing view off the deck. At the same time, it drives me crazy. Why? Because it doesn’t work like it should.

Functionally speaking, it does the job. It has walls, a roof, windows to let in light and […]

Website Survival Guide

By |September 23rd, 2014|

Websites have been made out to be scary things. I’ve lost count of the number of conversations I’ve had with clients, or potential clients, who want to get a website made but aren’t sure. This is usually because of a lack of understanding, and it seeming like a big expensive job.

It doesn’t have to […]

A little sunshine goes a long way

By |August 30th, 2014|

I was walking through Auckland on my way to a meeting yesterday, and I came across this delightful spot.

I looked down first and saw the turf ground. Looking up I saw the net of flowers. It’s such a simple idea, and yet so very effective.

It’s weird, and I like it.

Hersheys unveils new logo – a solid new approach, or an attack of the solids?

By |August 29th, 2014|

Hersheys have announced that they are taking on a new evolution of their logo and branding collateral.

For the most part the original shape and feel have been maintained, but it has been turned into more of a flat, almost metro style version. While some love the change, others are saying that well, it looks […]

You’re weird. I like it.

By |August 28th, 2014|

I was recently in Typo, one of my favourite stores, looking at several things I wanted and didn’t need.

As one of my values is that something needs to add value in order to be worth doing, I am fairly controlled when it comes to such temptations. Every now and then however, a particular item […]

Why WordPress?

By |August 27th, 2014|

Way back in the day, every website was created using static HTML and CSS. Each page had to be coded separately, which meant that changes were laborious, time consuming and usually expensive. In more recent times a different trend has come to the forefront, that of content management systems, or CMS for short.

There have […]
